First off I’d like to say that I’m very happy with your decision about giving your baby up for adoption and that you didn’t decide to terminate the pregnancy. I’m currently a senior in high school and I couldn’t imagine being pregnant and having to deal with deciding whether to get an abortion, or raise the baby, or giving it up for adoption. It came up to my attention that your original plan was to terminate the pregnancy and I’m glad you didn’t go through with it. I can tell by what the girl said that was protesting outside the clinic really did impact you. I believe she said something along the lines of “your baby probably has a beating heart... and it has fingernails”, I think you then realized that the decision you were about to make was a lot bigger than you thought it would be, and that you then realized that there is life inside of you. I’m happy that you thought it through and that you decided to carry the baby to term. Abortion is definitely a hard decision to make, but also keeping the baby while you’re in high school is also a hard decision due to judgement and all the students staring at you in the hallways. Bleeker didn’t really have to go through much when you were pregnant, he didn’t have to deal with the physical changes (you said that it is like a fat suit you can’t take off), and he didn’t have to “carry the evidence under [his] sweater” that he was sexually active. Bleeker also didn’t have to make the difficult decisions that you made which was keeping it, aborting it, or giving it up for adoption. Even though you had to go through the struggles in school, and all the physical changes and judgement, I think you made a great decision about giving up your baby for adoption. Honestly you were very mature through the whole thing because even though you didn’t want to keep the baby you still wanted it to have loving and caring parents. Although there was conflict with the adoptive parents (Mark and Vanessa) and their relationship didn’t really work out I am relieved that you still went through with giving the baby to Vanessa, she definitely was ready to be a mother and she easily could provide for the baby and give it all the love and attention it needs. I know you were very emotional at the end of the process because your baby is in the care of someone else and that must of been so hard for you. Knowing that you weren’t ready to take care of a baby and giving it to someone who can and is able to provide for it and give it unconditional love and attention should give you some peace of mind that the decision you made is the right one. I truly believe that the baby is going to have a bright and happy future and that you made a good decision for you and the baby.
